The big creepy faces Daifuku has accumulated around her room are called “Daruma” dolls; strange, Japanese good luck charms that double up as goal setters.
Weird, right?
Each Daruma doll’s design differs from region to region, but one thing always remains the same; upon receiving a Daruma doll as a present, both of its eyes are white. The recipient colours one of the eyes in when he or she makes a goal, and the other when that goal is complete. The owner is reminded of the goal they set every time they look at their Daruma doll until they see their goal to the end! What goals have you completed so far in 2013?

Kinda? Their wings will change shape depending on how the panels are laid out. I don’t want them blocking out other characters or being forced to use specific poses because their wings get in the way.

Oh wow, thanks! I’m glad! Personally, there are still a few things concerning the site when viewed a certain resolutions that I had trouble adjusting too… even though I made the gosh darn thing.
The background used to be pure black before I changed it purple to lighten it up.
As a tech side note, purple background appears sporadically on Dolphin browser: Galaxy S 2.

I have a GS2 and it looks fine in chrome/default/dolphin. I would ask you to screenshot it but I already know you can’t on the S2.
I seems to work fine for full screen but if I pinch zoom, it will break tiles.
Also you can take screen shots on S2. It’s hold down power and volume down button. I believe it’s Android feature. See if I can email you a screenshot or something.
Tried to use the email for broken links/image thing but got Access Denied. I can post it on TinyPic or something like that if you want.
Fixed that, it was missing a mailto: suffix.

I am going to be using that style a LOT more for closeups and action scenes, originally I wanted to use it all the time – but it looks out of place in panels where nothing much is going on (like Panel 2).

Just looked at all the new portraits in the cast page and Candy’s new design reminded me of something, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Was her design (namely her outfit) influenced at all by the Stalker/Shadow Chaser class in Ragnarok Online?

Ahaha OH SNAP! I think that inspiration was dormant in my mind and just came to me naturally without me even REALIZING!
I played a LOT of iRO back in the day, was a maxed out Clown, Assassin, Whitesmith and Hunter, I would spend months trying to get rare cards and just sit afk in Prontera. It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s where I subconsciously drew the inspiration from! Keen eye!
Haha, all I can say is that she looks great, it really fits her character and personality perfectly, especially with her background and the details given in the last arc. Just the addition of that coat ties everything together perfectly.

Honestly, the whole site (new ref sheets, cast image, banner, background etc. and internal/external html/css changes) took about a month along with having to update the comic and write out new scripts for the next month, so now that it’s all over and out in the open I am incredibly grateful to get comments like these!

This weird idea of Daifuku perfect match would be a foul mouth hotheaded rude Pirate dude with a oddly polite well manner soft spoken ancient demonic spirit of a great Pirate Warrior Lady infuse to his stomach that feast on some his positive emotion.

Ever since I said this I been thinking how his crew would ignore all his orders, mostly due to how he riddles his sentences in a negative foul, rude, n’ harshly worded & somewhat empty threatened way especially when when he mix it a pirate accent. He does this so much that the Old Polite Well manner respectful Pirate lady in his belly, translates all his sentence into a positive polite respectful softly spoken well manner request, and due to how polite her request are the crew do it without any hesitation. Mostly cause of how much respect they have for the spirit, dislike the Captian, (and they kinda tell to his directly face too, mostly in side comments and praising the spirit inside of him.)
I’m absolutely floored with the new look and feel of… well everything! You’ve topped yourself, Jkun. Top notch.

The new dresses for the cast are just… wow! Lacie and Shelbie are looking much more mature (dare i say it? Yes i do, Lacies stockings are pretty much rawrr~<3) , Candys cloak is so fluffy and her ears X3, Peppers labcoat gives a nice futuristic vibe and Daifuku lookes simply lovley with her new hairstyle and the kimono.
The new link icons are great too.^^ Specialy Candys hunting face and then "Roar, monsterbirdie". XD

Daifuku & Mochi had by far the most striking change in this character redesign. I also think she… uhh, they are the most interesting character in this comic. not that I don’t enjoy the other ones it’s just that they are the ones that you wouldn’t find in anyone else’s comic.
Not sure if this has been covered before but…
How does she change clothes? Isn’t the kimono bonded to her in some way through some curse or something because there Mochi was in it?
What would happen if she wore clothing that wasn’t red? Or maybe a shirt that points to Mochi saying “Stupid.” LOL
No. Mochi isn’t bound to the GI. Daifuku can remove her clothing at any time, Mochi would still be there where Daifuku’s stomach was.
This, she’s changed clothes a few times. The original gi was actually super dirty when she first wore it, covered in the previous wearer’s blood. Pretty sure she took it off and washed it then!
More specifically, Mochi’s mouth is always in place in her gut and his eyes appear over whatever she’s wearing. So if she isn’t wearing anything Mochi has no eyes. Likewise, unless she cuts out a mouth hole for him, Mochi’s mouth wouldn’t be visible.
The new background has that wasteland-like mechanical feel to it, along with the tower that looks like a face. That is one of my favorite changes. Well, for except Lacie*
* I am still being held by Lacie and she is forcing me to write that. But, tortured or not, it is kinda true.

I, like the others, like that third panel. I’m not certain why but I think it’s the combination of the more sketchy (more straight lines and hard edges) style in combination with the weird 0,,,o look Mochi is giving us. A strange style for a strange close-up. Works very nicely.
Also like that we can’t see any of the face-dolls with both eyes colored in. I’m guessing Daifuku has a lot of work ahead of her.
That must be a LOT of anguish if Mochi isn’t able to gobble it all up.
