Some smarty pants industrialist had the brainstorm of daylight savings so that they could save on the costs of lighting in factories and convinced various government to go with that idea.

Time zones are great but daylight savings is just a wholesale load of crap that needs to be gotten rid of. Pretty much either the most socially advanced or agrarian countries don’t have it.
