I’m curious if it was hard to draw Shelbie’s hands together with her boobs being in the way in the 2nd panel.
Also out of curiosity can Shelbie’s irises take on other shapes? I think we’ve only ever seen hearts thus far.
It’s very hard. I have been discussing on Facebook/Tumblr about character redesigns, and if I go ahead with it Shelbie is gonna be getting one hell of a breast reduction.
Also uh, it’s not specifically Shelbie whose irises change shape, I imagine if Peppermint saw some amazing piece of technology hers would change too – Shelbie just seems to be the most expressive character with a huge crush on Lacie, which explains the constant hearts in her eyes.
I would D: but honestly, the characters are interesting enough on their own that they don’t have to be eye candy. Heck, Lacie has a dedicated fan base and she’s the smallest bust size (or at least appears to be, again that dress really does not compliment her chest from the front).
I wouldn’t go through with the designs either. Just keep them the same. We have all come to expect this design. I mean, each of them are good they are.
Besides, I really wouldn’t live in a world where Shelbie has small breasts.
Two things I learned from creating CS is that art is progressive and always changing, and secondly, you cannot please everyone.
If specific redesigns are for the better, in Shelbie’s case allowing readers to see her for more than an excuse to comment on her tits, then I want to make that change and nobody can stop me. Additionally, if the redesigns allow me do more flexible stuff with the characters or make them easier to draw (allowing for faster comics and more updates per week) then I think change is a good thing.
But seriously, as far as designs go, Shelbie’s is the most annoying to draw and takes the most time. Daifuku/Mochi is a close second, but that’s to be expected considering it’s technically two characters!
Fine. Just don’t destroy all of Shelbie’s tits.

I make a game out of guessing people’s Nationality based on their comments. Thanksgiving clearly indicates American, So X9 would be American. I’m also guessing Oni is American because of his horrible language and grammar.
I’ve stopped guessing a long time ago as I’ve had a hard time not to imagine everyone who comments in English on a webcomic I read and is polite to some extent as Canadian.
I think I just don’t expect people to be from Europe because I read so many webcomics which are made by artists from Canada or the USA. There are only two I know which are made by British.
No offense, I’m just not good in guessing.
I don’t even know why I getting in this conversation, nor the reason I replying to Polymer comment, but what I do know from all my experiences of Thanksgiving. And its a time to settle down with Friends & Family and stuff your goddamn fucking fatass faces to forgive & forget the hundreds upon thousands deaths of Native Americans after the Pilgrims settle and took their land. Also looking at Pretty Floats & Big Fucking Ass Balloons of your Favorite Cartoon Characters. Also Killing Turkeys with Cars or your Bear Hands (Thats right you rip a Bears paws then shove you hand into enough times to form a Bear paw like Gloves.) then planting fish into ground to make some Fish Bushes.:D Don’t forget the Hat gets to wear Belt.(:D)

Between my Tough Job and Somewhat a lot Active Friends, I have enough energy to think of “Witty” Comments on Bad Ass Comic.
I’d support a character redesign, especially if it makes it easier for you in terms of drawing.
I also agree with Blue_Elite – I feel there’s a lot more story that can be explored in the characters, especially Shelbie. Given her position in Heaven before she fell to earth, she doesn’t have to be the blonde eye-candy. For me, exploration of her personality before she lost most of her brain cells would be pretty interesting.
I seem to recall you mentioning not wanting to make pop-culture references because you wanted the comic to be ‘timeless’ in a sense. Moving away from purely visually appealing characters would probably also be a step in this direction.
Of course, it’s your comic and this is just what one reader thinks. Looking forward to seeing how you’re going to progress in the future!
Thank you! I agree with all your points, I think there is a lot more I have yet to uncover – but I need the skill and ability to pull it off before I release it to the world, redesigns should help with that! Making the characters more flexible and dynamic.

Honestly, I think it depends on the new designs. Frankly, Shelbie’s bust (which seems to be at the center of this debate) is kind of impractical and distracting. I like boobs as much as the next guy, but I don’t like when it defines the character.
Lacie’d still do anything for the Magma-sauced Demon Chili Pizza, even if it means a whole month of pain for her ass.

The original characters standing on a conveyor belt with the new ones in front while scenes from the comic flash around with Peppermint cranking out more clones and there are little bits of robot pieces and parts spelling out 100 in big letters.
I don’t get why Lacie didn’t just take the pizza while everyone else was preparing for the race.
Maybe Candy was protecting it to make her go outside for once.

Pizza in Japan is expensive just like all most everything else in Japan.
I usually make my own food while there or i go to restaurants or go for the discounted Bento meals for food or other means of food. when i am not working in my friend’s cosplay cafe in exchange for letting me stay at her house while i am in Japan. However i would say i prefer some of the restaurants eating contest in Japan if you beat it you get free food for life regardless if you live there or not.
Too bad Shelbie’s not strong enough to crack Lacie’s ribs or squeeze the air out of her lungs.
