Yeah, as of October this year, downloading anything you cannot see on free TV is illegal. A lot of anime is not free to watch in Japan, despite what everyone thinks. DVDs and Blurays are way too expensive and come with no subtitles, naturally. So I am kind of at a loss for a lot of anime.
