In Scotland, sometimes people call Tartan a colour, when it’s really a pattern of overlapping colours.
If you look at how Tartan is laid out, it would be impossible to buy it as paint and apply it to a wall. Candy didn’t figure this out until she went all the way to the store, only to embarrass herself, resulting in her wanting to kick Lacie’s ass.
I didn’t wanna have to explain jokes, but I didn’t think many western readers would get the Scottish reference in the first place, haha.
This is her winter outfit. She let her hair down to keep her neck warm I guess!
I am in the process of cleaning up the old character concept sketches I posted on Tumblr a couple of months back, and will be using them as mannequins to show off the 4 new winter costumes featured in these latest updates!
Actually, I really like Candy with her hair down. It makes her look prettier and more mature. (For the Candy value of “mature” of course…) I’d be interested in what kind of Winter footwear you plan on giving her since up to now she’s been barefoot.
Haha, the first time I drew it was for the Smart Casual Party strip, and thought it made her look very pretty and feminine, but she is a bit of a hardass, and I think having it down all the time would get in the way, especially while she is beating up Lacie or cooking.
There is so much about these characters I want to express through the comics, but one step at a time, eh?
This is the first time one of your strips make me laugh at Wikipedia, J. XD
(That’s right, I had to research what exactly was tartan. Thanks for bringing up new pieces of information to my English skills – as an English teacher myself, they’re always invaluable. ;D)
At first, I was impressed by lacie actually doing something. Then, like Candy, it took a while for the joke to nail me. Thats what I get for reading webcomics first thing in the morning.
You Scottish with your Tartan. Hey.. if Lacie and the others had accents, what would they be? :3
Awesome stuff as always!
What an awesome question, I never really thought of it. Let me give it a think.
Sure
Lacie would either have one of those weird british accents, not the fancy ones but the scary sounding ones, where there is no H,
Candy would maybe have a New York accent or a accent that is common around the beast people,
Shelbie might have a cutesy british accent,
Peppermint might also be cutesy british accent,
i like british accents. >.>
or maybe Lacie and Candy would be switched, so Candy could be british and Lacie could be New York. xP
I always vision Lacie to have a big, broad, loud New York accent. Or Boston.
I don’t get it. :/

Thanks for commenting though!!
I got it when I saw the background of the third panel. XD
Awesome, glad someone noticed it!! Thanks for commenting!
Hahaha! Yeah, let’s just paint the room plaid, shall we, that’ll be nice and easy…
It’s easy for Lacie since all she is going to do is laze about and drink tea.
What happened to candy’s ponytail?
Thanks for the comment!

Keen eye, though!

Her neck, eh? For some reason, I’m more worried about her belly. And kidneys.
Hahaha, good point!Maybe she can take the beating that old man winter can gives her.
Thanks for the comment!
Ha ha ha! What a great joke!
Flattery gets you nowhere!!
Actually it does, it gets you a reply from me. Curse my niceness.
This is when one resorts to wallpaper.
Yeah, I think orange and black strips would suit Lacie, she seems to like those colours.
Thanks for the comment Phipps! I will be sure to call you Phipps from now on, too.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE JOKE
I’m too American for this comic. I shall take my leave.
I explained it above…somewhere…!
LOL, I’m glad I watched a certain Scottish stand-up comedian awhile back, everything makes sense because of it~
Are you talking about who I am thinking of…?

I can’t help it, the blood of teaching runs through me too.
At first, I was impressed by lacie actually doing something. Then, like Candy, it took a while for the joke to nail me. Thats what I get for reading webcomics first thing in the morning.
Haha, I am glad I shared a little Scottish culture during this strip.
I also know the feeling of dealing with Webcomic stuff as soon as I wake up!
Tsh. This one is Candy’s fault for not figuring it out immediately. Seriously, props to Lacie for actually pulling that one off.
I’m kinda’ surprised at how few people got the joke, though.
I think the fact Lacie got one up on her means the punishment will be even worse than usual.
Force of habit you merciless b€%*h!
If it’s no’ Scottish, it’s crap! Great joke today. lol
Do you also have a tin of monochrome?
And while you’re out, get me some elbow grease, headlight fluid, and a muffler return spring. I’m doing some work on the car.
